In my opinion the elderly get the worse of the worst and our debt to them can never be repaid in full. Considering the fact that a lot of the youth of today seemingly have little respect for anyone or anything at all let alone the elderly. This and the governments rise in university fee's makes me believe that teaching respect to the youth of today is not on any ones agenda.
It maybe the last stand as far as this nations Great Britain is concerned. With all of the Governments wicked scheme's and all of the Bank's stupid lends we tend not to see that the elderly are getting an even worse deal than us! Being conned out of everything they have ever worked for to be replaced with the opportunity of being neglected in some private run home for their final days!
Maybe it's because of the education system worrying more about our kids getting jobs than the skills needed to be a good, caring person. Or could it be that the NHS has to spend too much time doing paperwork that they fail to show compassion.
These children of the past deserve as many choices as we give the children of today! Is it that our society sees that they no longer give anything back so maybe they have the right to forget they even exist!
Growing up I remember always being round my Grandparents house, especially Sundays. Aunties, Uncles and Cousins all meeting for that one day every week. As we get older have noticed that life's ambitions tend to get in the way, possibly more now than ever before and we see less of our parents, siblings and Grandparents than we used to do. It doesn't always mean that we care less but that our fight for survival has increased in the last decade beyond recognition. Let's not forget why we are all here and the hardship of what our elders went through to give us the start we have today. Everyone has a spare hour in a week to do something for someone that needs a little help. To some of us it may seem a little mundane but just letting that person know you are there makes all the difference in the world!
My Gran lives on her own in a secure block of flats. The neighbours constantly check to see if she needs anything and that she is okay but what about the folks who are on there own! The government aren't very forward in educating the elderly into what they are entitled to. This must change! Every winter elderly die because they cant afford heating or cant get to the shops and are sometimes left for weeks before anyone has even noticed! This breaks my heart. Especially when you see how much respect foreign families have for their elderly.
I am not blaming anyone in particular but we all have a responsibility to ensure that our elderly have the best of the best instead of being brushed under the carpet and forgotten!
